In the UK there are a number of rights workers are entitled to under the law around hours of work.
Most workers over the age of 18 have the right to:
- A break when working 6 hours or longer
- An 11 hour rest period every working day
- A 24 hour rest period every 7 days
- A maximum of an average 48 hour working week
- A maximum of an average 8 hours’ night work every 24 hours
- Free health assessment for all night shift workers
- 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday a year which may include bank holidays
